The piece is my love for the best in contours but the colors that represent my homeland of Africa. This textile reminds me of my first trip to the DRC (Congo), my first time going to Africa. I remember the flight landing and this nice Congolese lady sitting next to me and asking me if I was ok. I hadn't realized that my breathing had changed with her telling me, "You're home now.".....and the tears rolled. She knew I was holding it, and being unsure what I was feeling was just that.
